After drilling a hole in the table for the screw you will be using and the matching hole in the sheet metal use this punch to make a depression in the sheet metal so the screw head sits below the surface of the sheet metal.
Slide the screw into the countersunk hole and run your hand over the surface of the metal across the countersunk hole to feel whether the head of the screw protrudes above the surface of the metal.
To achieve this it is necessary for both the head of the screw and the countersunk hole to be controlled within prescribed limits.
